#15 - home cooked meal(s) (61/143)

Malek made lubia pollo (ground beef w/ green beans and rice) Friday night.  That counts!

I really need to make something....oh!  I made egg mcmuffins Sunday morning.  :-D

#13 - Buy a weed wacker / edger

Saturday was quite a busy day.  In the morning we helped Malek's sister with the movers and setting up her house.  Then on the way home we stopped by Home Depot for lawn tools and sprinkler heads.  I finally bought an edger!  Actually I bought an edger attachment for Malek's weed wacker.  :-)  hahaha.  Anyways, finally knocked this one off the list...and now my lawn has nice edges. :-P

After some yard work and a nice nap, we decided to watch Transformers 2.  Loved it!

#97 - adventures/exercise for Sarah (33/33)

I think I should change this from "Take Sarah to the dog park" to "take Sarah out and about for exercise/adventures".  I've actually been taking her around to a lot of different places.  She's come out to Sam's Boat on the weekends, brought her to several softball games, and we take her to Hanover's for sand volleyball.  She loves it!  She gets lots of attention from everyone and can sniff/smell to her hearts content...not to mention explore and play with other dogs that are around.

We also took Sarah camping a couple months ago where she played in the water and fetched many sticks.  We also found a boat rental place that allows dogs...so I think the next thing will be to get her a life-vest and take her out on the lake! :-D

Father's day weekend

This past weekend marked the end of having the kids for 2 weeks straight. Malek took off Thurs and Fri and I took off Fri to hang with the kids.

Thursday evening we went to the pool for a couple hours, then came home and made grilled cheese and pink (tomato) soup.  I love pink soup!  Childhood fav :-D  [#15 – home cooked meal(s) (57/143]
Friday morning we relaxed and then took the kids bowling.  Afterwards we hit up HEB for some groceries and headed home for some quick cleaning.  We decided Friday would be home made pizza night and invited Karen, Sabrina and Malek's sister Sara over for dinner.  The pizza turned out awesome!  So much better than last time (nothing was burnt).  :-P  For dessert the kids made brownies.  Jenn and Monica ended up coming over a little later for some wine and socializing.  We made it a late night, going all the way to 1:30am or so!  [#15 – home cooked meal(s) (58/143)]

Saturday Malek and I went to see the "Hangover", hilarious!  Afterwards we had lunch at Mighty Fines and then went shopping at JCPenny's.  For dinner we grilled steaks, veggies and baked potatoes!  We had decided to celebrate fathers day with dinner on Sat since we were going to be out on the lake all day Sun.  The dinner was great and I must say the baked potatoes were awesome, ate the entire thing (skin and all)! [#15 – home cooked meal(s) (59/143)]
Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there!  Sunday morning Emma made scrambled eggs and we put together breakfast taco's for Malek and gave him his gifts and cards for Father's day.  The kids and I went in together and gave him a silver necklace with a silver "E" charm.  He'd been talking about switching out his gold ones for silver.  The perfect gift!  Karen came over about 9:30am and we loaded everyone up and headed out to Lake Travis.  We rented a boat and met several friends out at Carlos and Charlies for an awesome afternoon of fun in the sun.  After we got off the water we had dinner at Carlos and Charlies and then headed home.  Everyone ended up taking a nap (Malek was out for 2+ hrs).  To finish off the weekend, Malek and I had a 9pm volleyball game.

Lots of 40s!

Gotta love the summer time!  We had another awesome weekend last weekend.

Friday we had Karen and my co-worker Christie over for hotdogs and hamburgers.  All the kids had a blast together.  It's nice that they are old enough to entertain themselves and take care of the younger kids.  :-)  Gave us adults some nice relaxing social time.  (#15 - home cooked meal(s) (56/143)

Saturday, during the day, Karen and Sabrina joined us at my neighborhood pool.  I couldn't believe how nice it was!  I never made it to the pool last year and now wish I had.  The pool is huge and has a nice kiddie pool too.  Surrounding the pool is a sand volleyball court, playscapes, grills and picnic tables.  Definitely going to be there more this summer.

Saturday night we had 2 bday parties to attend.  First was Victoria's 40th at Juniors in RR.  Then we headed downtown to Annie's West for Jones 40th bday.  We ended up staying out till 1:30am or so.  We had a great time!  I hadn't been downtown since January, so it was a nice change.  I think we finally made it to bed around 2:30am.  Woohoo!

Sunday we took it easy.  We visited Malek's dad in LakeWay for an early dinner, hung out and was home by a reasonable hour.  Of course we still had a volleyball game at 8pm, which we won!

All in all a great weekend!

#1!

Malek and I have been together for a year now!  Our 1 yr anniversary was actually June 1st.  :-D

We decided to celebrate at NoRTH in the Domain.  The food was really good.  We ordered a bottle of wine and enjoyed the bruchetta and zucca chips for appetizers, then split the spinach salad with goat cheese.  For our entrees, Malek had the flank steak and I ordered the pork tenderloin.  Yummy!  For dessert we indulged ourselves on the Nutella mousse cake and cappuccinos with a shot of Frangelico.

Oh!  Malek also gave me a single red rose.    Happy anniversary baby!

3x's the charm

Yes, yet another busy fun weekend. 3 weekends in a row!

Friday we had Karen and Jenn C over for wine and cheese.  Wow, did not realize how much I had to drink....the few cheese and crackers I ate was not enough to save me from Saturday's woes.  I have no clue when I went to bed...just know I woke up in my clothes from the day before ready to face hell.  But we all had a wonderful time hanging out and catching up.  Good times!  Headache to ensue....

Saturday...oh woe is me.  I'm miserable...The whole day I was nauseated and I had my jewelry party to host!  Thank god for Karen, she helped get the house ready for all my guests (while I sat on the couch like a sack of potatoes ready for the next time I had to pray to the porcelain gods).  Malek had left at 7:30am to volunteer for a race...lucky man.  Thankfully I made it through the party without anyone really noticing my pasty skin (only 1 trip to the bathroom during those 3 hrs and thank goodness for makeup).  Party was over by 4pm, Karen helped clean up and then we just sat around for an hour or so recovering.  I was finally able to eat something around 5:30pm.  Hallelujah!

Sunday was Evan's 13th birthday party.  We headed over to Pflugerville Lake for an afternoon of BBQing and water time.  I even brought Sarah with me, she had a blast.  She went swimming (after I nicely dropped her in) and explored the shores while we paddled around in canoe boats and battled it out with water balloons.  By 4pm we were done (some of us, Malek, were burnt) and ready to head home.  After a nap, we went to our evening volleyball game.

Family, weddings and fun

This past week/end was super busy!

Malek and I left Wednesday morning to fly to Ohio for my cousin's wedding.  Wednesday night was the bachelor/bachelorette parties.  The men went to a baseball game and the women went to dinner at Bravo (excellent Italian!) followed by drinks afterwards.  Thursday morning Amy's husband to be, Rob, was promoted to Captain and there was a ceremony we attended in his honor.  Thursday evening was the rehearsal dinner out at Bass Lake Lodge on the military base.  It was a nice casual event where we could catch up with everyone.  Friday morning we were able to sleep in and take our time getting ready, we didn't have to be at the church until 3pm.  The wedding was at 5pm and it was a very nice ceremony followed by the Arch of Sabers (military tradition).  Then it was off to the celebration!  The reception was held at Carillon Park, we were in the building which featured old fashioned trolleys and trains that you could explore.  The music was awesome, all 40's and 50's classic songs.  Loved it!  The weather was perfect and the food was delish!  Couldn't have asked for a better wedding day.  Morning came all too soon.  We had to rise bright and early Saturday morning and head to Janie and Bob's for brunch.  My mom, Deanie and I (well mainly mom and Dean, Malek and I formed the kitchen maintenance brigade) were hosting the brunch for all the guests.  We ended up going through 64 pigs in a blanket in something like 2 hours!  We also had other items to graze on such as yogurt parfait, bagels, fruit...but it was the pigs in a blanket that were a huge hit.  Afterwards Amy and Rob opened their wedding gifts and said their goodbyes.  They had to leave by 3pm for their trip to TX where Rob would be stationed for training.  The rest of the afternoon was spent napping and catching up with family.

Another celebration this past weekend was Steve's MBA graduation.   So Saturday night we all went out for Chinese to celebrate.

We finally made it back to Austin around 6pm Sunday night, and we had a volleyball game at 9pm too!  It was a great week/end visiting family.
