Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

Easter is right around the corner and our HOA put on an egg hunt this past weekend.  Ry had a blast hunting for eggs and playing in the bounce house.  Poor Carsy missed the egg hunt as she took a late nap, but she made it in time to get her popsicle and playscape time.  This was also the first year where Ry wasn't afraid of the Easter bunny!  I thought Carsy might hug the bunny as well, but she kept her distance.  A great event on a beautiful day.  Happy early Easter!

The Wurst Time! Again!

I wasn't able to go last year to Wurstfest as I'd just had Carsyn, so we made up for it this year and went with a group of friends. :)  It was a great...I mean WURST time ever!  And of course the hubby does not remember the end of the night.  We left for New Braunfels around 3pm and didn't get home until midnight.  We stayed inside the Wursthalle the entire time as it was cold, wet and rainy outside.

Carsyn Baptized

Carsyn was baptized this weekend by the Trinity fountain at our Church.  It was a beautiful day and Carsyn was a perfect angel, no crying!  We named my brother Steve and SIL Christina as Godparents.  Afterwards we celebrated with family and friends at our house with Rudy's BBQ and cake.  Visit My Mom's Memos for the full recap and pictures.

The gown - I wore the same gown when I was baptized!

Deutschen Pfest 5k Pfun Run & Festival

The Deutschen Pfest 5K is our family race.  It's close to home, a good course and they serve pizza and beer afterwards.  Plus with your race shirt you get into the festival for free!  It was 75 degrees at race time and windy.  Our nice cool weather had disappeared and the past few mornings had been fairly muggy, so I was a bit worried about the temp.  I knew I wouldn't PR as I've been decreasing my runs since I'm 16 weeks pregnant, this would be my last race of the year.  I think they changed up the course a bit this year, there seemed to be a lot more hills.  Nothing too bad, but it was noticeable, mile 2 was the toughest.  Overall I'm really happy with my time, I ran the entire time and ran it in under a 9:30 pace (which was my goal).  Hopefully by this time next year I'll be back in fighting form to regain my time from last year (PR 25:26).  Evan came in at a speedy 25:57, the hubby and Emma ran together while pushing Ry and came in at 33:29.  My Garmin said I finished 3.06 miles in 29:20 and my official race time was 29:19.  A total of 455 people ran the race this year.

After the race we headed to the festival to listen to the Detentions and partake in carny food.  :)  Ry had a blast on the playscapes and even danced to the music.

Austin Steam Train

This past weekend the Austin Spartans rented the entire Santa Fe car on the Austin Steam Train for a discounted price!  We couldn't pass that up, plus we've never ridden the train.  It was a quaint train ride from Cedar Park to Burnet, they even provided snacks!  Once in Burnet we ate at the Highlander restaurant and wandered around the town.  Emma and I volunteered to star in the Wild West Shoot out as town folk, we even had speaking roles!  Everyone had a great time and Ry was in a great mood despite only taking a 15 min cat nap in the car ride back home at the end of the day.

Come join the Austin Spartans for a historic train ride into the Texas Hill Country. We have booked the Santa Fe 1343 car aboard the Hill Country Flyer for a great trip on Saturday, April 27th, 2013. This popular train ride departs Cedar Park at 10:00am (arrive by 9:30) for a two hour journey through the Texas Hill Country to Burnet. Passengers can enjoy lunch and shopping at their own leisure during stopover. The Burnet Gunfighters present their wild west gunfight, weather permitting, at the train station in Burnet before the trains leaves at approximately 2:15 pm to return to Cedar Park.

The Wurst Time!

Wurstfest is upon us!  Instead of packing up all the Halloween decor we decided to spend the day in New Braunfels for our favorite salute to sausage festival.  After a few detours (gas and ATM stop) we arrived around noon.  Ry had a ball!  There was so much to see an do he totally skipped his nap!  We hit up our favorite potato pancake booth first as that usually has the longest lines.  The first thing we noticed though was that it really wasn't that crowded.  We are so used to going on Saturdays and it being packed.  However Sunday's are awesome!  It's nowhere near as crowded until later on in the afternoon, so we had no problems finding parking and most of the booths were line free!  Woohoo!  Ry loved the biergarten, he found many steps and would entertain himself by climbing up and down them for as long as we were willing to stay there and watch.  Wurstfest also has carnival rides, so we took Ry on his first carousel!  Needless to say he was thrilled.  Soon afterwards my husbands brother's family joined us and all the cousins had a blast dancing in Wursthalla.
