1 Year Anniversary!

This past weekend was our 1 year anniversary (well, actually on Sunday 3/27).  How time flies!?  I can't believe it's been a year already, and an active year at that!  After our wedding we went on our honeymoon, sold my house, bought a new house, threw several house parties (housewarming, Halloween, NYE, BBQs), hosted Christmas for both families and became pregnant!  I'd say we were pretty darn busy.  :D

To celebrate we engaged in a weekend of our favorite foods.  Friday night we hung out at Pluckers with some friends.  Saturday we enjoyed a romantic dinner at our beloved Tree House Grill followed by drinks on the rooftop of Hangar Lounge downtown (water for me).  You can imagine the looks I received from some of the women as I walked into the bar at 37 weeks pregnant.  :-Þ  That's right, rocking my baby bump!  Sunday we feasted on crawfish at Sam's Boat and watched some March Madness games.  As a special treat I ordered a cake from the same lady who made our wedding cake a year ago.  The cake was awesome and tasted just like our wedding cake, super moist tres leches with ivory butter cream frosting and a purple #1.  Heaven!

Happy Anniversary Hubby!

New Toys

Finally!!  We purchased a new washer and dryer this past Saturday (Lowe's had a great sale).  The ones we had were 9 years old and it was time for a change, plus the dryer squealed like a banshee.  We managed to sell our old washer/dryer on Craigslist in one day (crazy!).  Sunday we cleaned up the laundry room, painted and sealed the tile.  The new units arrived Monday afternoon - they're so pretty!  We wanted a top loader because we've heard so many people complain about the moldy smell of a front loader.  I can't wait to try them out!  Just in time for baby too.  :)

We also decided to purchase a camcorder to capture life's amazing moments.  ;)  This piece of equipment is pretty sweet!  Not only does it take video in HD, it takes pictures as well.  Get ready for lots of videos of baby (no birthing videos!!)!

Date night with TXRD

We had a pretty busy Saturday this past weekend.  First we had maternity pictures, followed by lunch at Home Slice Pizza, then later in the evening I took Malek to his first roller derby!  The doors opened at 6pm and the bout started at 7pm.  We figured when we arrived at 6:15pm we had plenty of time to find seats....uh NO!  All the seats were filled!!!  We ended up standing for the first half until we found some seats at half time.  Despite the seating issue we had a great time.  I think Malek really enjoyed the bouts and scuffles.  Heck, even Boba Fett was there!  We'd go again, but this time we'd bring cash and make sure to get there before the doors open.  FYI, the bout lasts until at least 10pm.

Maternity Pictures

Here's a few teaser shots of our maternity session with Luxe Photography, the rest should be ready in about 2 weeks.  We choose downtown by Hey Cupcake off Congress for our location.  We liked the urban feel, plus there were some really awesome backdrops for pictures!  Despite it being a bit windy, the weather was perfect - clear skies and around 70 degrees at 10:30am.  We followed up our photo session with Home Slice Pizza for lunch.  Yummy!

Baby Shower

My wonderful friends threw me an amazing baby shower this past weekend.  I was so overcome with love and happiness (and pregnancy hormones) that it took everything I had to keep from crying, albeit they would have been tears of joy.  :)  I just couldn't start the shower off sobbing!  :Þ

The cake was marvelous, the decor was awesome (I'm in love with the plush elephant and giraffe - sorry hubby), and the brunch was yummy.  We had a wonderful time chatting, eating, playing shower games and opening gifts.  Malek and I are so very grateful to have such amazing friends and family!  Baby Ryland received so many adorable outfits, hand made blankets, the crib bedding, and all sorts of necessities.  A HUGE thank you goes out to everyone for their generosity, we really appreciate it!

Mulberry delights

Our out of town friend, Moni, is in town this week, so last night the girls headed downtown for a special dinner at Mulberry.  Mulberry is a quaint little wine bar and restaurant off Nueces St.  We enjoyed several delicious appetizers,  unique entrées and butterscotch brulee for dessert.  I of course could not partake in the wine/beer, but dessert more than made up for it for me.  :)  It was great catching up with an old friend and trying out a new place downtown!
